I had pictures to accompany this post, but someone (aka the bestest-big-brother-ever) has run off with my SD card and I cannot find it. So, you will have to just make do with my descriptions.
Samuel and Lillian love to play together. When Samuel wakes up in the morning, Lillian is the first person he seeks. Lillian has recently started to do this army crawl thing through the house and Samuel gets down on the floor with her and army crawls.
They love to play with the light-sabers (yes, from Star Wars, a relic from Carlin's childhood). Samuel gives Lillian the blue light-saber, because he is always green. While she slobbers the handle of the blue light-saber Samuel hits the green light-saber on the floor thereby making the effective noise to go along with it.
Samuel also loves to play cars with her, he surrounds her with the cars and then pushes her so that her body makes the cars go. This goes well until she gets a hold of one of the cars and puts it in her mouth, because everything goes into her mouth. At this point Samuel no longer wants to share his cars.
He also loves to push her around in the walker-thing-a-ma-jig. They often play in his room in which I am effectively kicked out, because Mom is just not cool enough for their games. They kick, squeal, and laugh together. It's so much fun watching them get along and I keep my fingers crossed that their friendship will continue as they get older.

Power 90
So, Carlin and I have committed ourselves to Power 90.
We are in our second week.
We stop eating 3 hours before bedtime, have cut out all junk food, eat whole grains, have only one serving, and get up to workout at 6:30am six days a week.
What sold me on the program was the healthy diet. It doesn't restrict what you eat or how much you eat, but guides you into healthy eating decisions and informs you about appropriate portion sizes and explains why some food are better than others.
It's kicking our butts into shape (literally, you do kicks to workout your butts and thighs) and I'm officially sore.
Hopefully in 82 more days I will have some amazing before and after pictures to show you.

So, I heard this song on the radio a few months ago. I just loved it.
Let me introduce you to the JaneDear Girls:
Sorry, you have to go to YouTube to watch it...

6 Months Old!
Lillian is 6 months old and a little chunk. I call her my rolly-pollie.

Her milestones, thus far are:
Not one but two teeth! She let everyone know that she was getting them, and now loves to smile and show them off.
She can almost sit up by herself, and can bring herself up onto her knees... now we just have to get the whole hold-yourself-up-with-your-arms thing down (at the same time, she can do them separately, but not together).
She holds her own bottle, mostly.
She rolls over and laughs, a lot.
She follows you around the room with her eyes and will contort her body into weird shapes so she can keep watching you.

Other things about Lillian. She absolutely adores her brother. I know I've mentioned this before, but it's true. He rolls her around, puts toys and blankets on top of her, and she just sits there and laughs.
Whenever she gets excited those little legs get to kicking. You can tell how excited she is by the speed and force of those kicks.
Embarrassing story: she has this unique talent of blowing out her diapers. I have to change her outfits several times a day and am constantly doing laundry.

Oh - and Happy Independence Day everyone!

Carlin went to a Conference...
... In Orlando, Florida. The grandparents said they would watch the kids if I wanted to join him. So, a few clicks on the computer and I had booked a flight for a week long vacation without the kids!
Warning: you might hate me by the end of this blog.
The conference was held at the Grand Lakes Resort. While Carlin was in meetings all day I sat at the pool (with a lazy river), with books, sunscreen, and a pool boy. ;) Just kidding about the pool boy, but the staff did come by asking if you needed anything. I literally sat at the pool all day while the staff brought me drinks and food, it was glorious.

In the evenings, Carlin would join me in the hot tub, or playing checkers.

We sat on a couch in the lounge area and ate sushi.
After the conference, we had an afternoon to ourselves before flying back home. We couldn't resist, we were in Orlando and it was so close and the hotel offered complimentary shuttle rides to Universal Studios. So, we went to the Wizarding World of Harry Potter.
Seriously, everything I had pictured it to be. The Forbidden Journey ride was amazing, just to stand in the line was an adventure. You start out in the dungeons of Hogwarts, then you make your way through the green houses, into the castle itself, through Dumbledore's office, Professor Binn's classroom and then to the ride itself which starts in the Room of Requirements. We had butterbeer which was beyond explanation and pumpkin juice. We didn't go into any of the shops, it was too busy and way too hot. We decided we would just need to come back at a later time.

Yep, it was wonderful and relaxing. If I could I would send all my friends out there and watch your kids for you, just so you could have some much needed time with your husbands and rejuvenate yourself.

Dear Mom,
This letter has been a long time coming. I'm sure you expected some kind of acknowledgment on your birthday, but that came and went with the stress of closing on our house. That's all right, there's always Mother's Day, right? But Mother's Day came and went and I still hadn't said anything. That's okay, it's too cliche to acknowledge my Mother on Mother's Day anyway. Right? So, here I am a few days before Father's Day contemplating my relationship with my parents and I decided now was the time to sing your praises.
Mom, we've had an interesting relationship, haven't we? Some of my friends were envious of it, others were shocked and appalled. We've had our ups and downs, as I'm sure every mother-daughter relationship has and we definitely have our differences. You like Nicholas Sparks, I like Daphne DuMaurier. You like chocolate candy, I like fruity candy. You love comedies and chick flicks, I love foreign films and fantasy. I like math, you... not so much. You love rock 'n roll, I love classical. You can sew, I would sooner stick myself with a needle than even try.
But we also have many similarities. I love to cook, you like to eat what I make (mostly). We both have a thing for Carey Grant and wish the dresses from the early 1960's would make a comeback. We have the same mannerisms, the same laugh, and we both dance with our mouths open (I prefer to say we dance with expressive faces). Neither one of us can carry a tune, yet we both love to hum along to our favorite songs. I am the walking-spitting-image of you (except with blue eyes). I used to get upset when people said I looked just like you because I wanted to be my own individual (something else I get from you). Now, I look at how beautiful you are, how you don't look like you could be the Mom of a 25 year old let alone a grandmother to two children, and I think to myself, "dang, I hope I look that hot in another 25 years."
Mom - I know you have your doubts as to whether or not you were a good Mom, let me reassure you - You ARE! Because of you I learned to laugh at myself, people think I have a good sense of humor now. Because of you I went to college. You were the voice in my head that made me finish my degree even when things got tough. You've always expected the best out of me, you always pushed me to do my best. You taught me not to care of others' opinions of me. You showed me how to be considerate of those around me and you taught me that I am a daughter of God.
I still think you are a little crazy - but the thing is, you are MY crazy Mom and I wouldn't have it any other way. To simply put it - I love you, Mom.

P.S. I don't have any recent pictures of you and me, at least if I do I don't know where Carlin has stored them, so this will have to do.
