Last Friday was my last day of work which means I am officially a stay-home Mom. This couldn't have come at a better time because my poor little boy seems to be fighting a mild, allergy form of pink eye and a growing spurt. His right eye is glassy and goopy and sometimes a little pink and irritated. He is not running a fever and it doesn't seem to be bothering him much, but I have to constantly clean it out with a warm washcloth.
Samuel has also decided not to spoil me anymore by sleeping through the night. He now wakes up at least 3 times during the night convinced he is starving. I, unfortunately, do not seem to be able to produce enough milk to satiate his new appetite. I am now considering buying a soy-based formula to see if that helps curb his appetite. Hopefully this is a growth spurt and he will calm down soon.
Speaking of eating - I have really become creative with my no-dairy diet. I have also found it to be healthier and better on my budget since I no longer go out for ice cream. An example of creativity happened just this afternoon when I made myself lunch. It is a cool, rainy day and I wanted a grilled cheese sandwich - however, cheese really hurts Samuel's stomach. So, instead I made a grilled ham and tomato sandwich - yummy.
One last thing... for those who are wondering what ever happened to Carlin's iphone birthday present. Well, the monthly phone plan was too expensive right now so we didn't get it. With all of the changes happening in our lives right now I haven't been able to make up for it - but I have big plans that I cannot divulge since my husband reads this blog. Just stay tuned...

If it is at all comforting, they do get out of those eat every hour phases! Biologically speaking, if you nurse on demand, your supply should catch up to what he needs. Way to go on the no dairy to help your little one feel better! It takes discipline and sacrifice, but part of being a mommy is doing what's best for your baby, which you are. Good luck! Trish
How nice that you are able to stay home with little Samuel full-time, especially now that he isn't feeling great. Good for you and your dairy fast. I hope that you are able to see the benefits from it, it's always best to see the fruits from your sacrifice. :)
If you ever need no-dairy food tips, I'm your gal! I'm excited for you for being home full-time. Sorry I'm a loser and have been so busy lately, so we haven't had a chance to do much. We'll have to get together this week.
PS-make yourself a banana split w/out the icecream-it's so good you probably won't even really mind the ice cream isn't there.
