Mardi Gras!

I thought it would be fun to celebrate Mardi Gras yesterday.

Really, I just had a hankering for a Kings Cake... so, I made one from scratch.I LITERALLY slaved over it all day! That was one of the most intense cakes I've ever made. It turned out pretty tasty, even if my icing was a little runny.

We also had beans, rice and cornbread for dinner. Yum.

And Happy Birthday to my beautiful sister who turns 15 today! I will eat an extra piece of Kings cake in your honor. (P.S. KeLei is about 12 in this picture but it is one of my favorites of her. :)

There wasn't a little plastic baby in the cake. :(

15??? Where does the time go? I never really formally knew your little sister, but I remember seeing her and it doesn't seem right that she's 15. Weird!!

Love the cake. :)

You totally stole my idea (that you didn't know I had ;))! I was going to make Kings Cake and have a little mini Mardi Gras parade...but then the kids were sick and my plans went out the window. Maybe we'll have to get together next year and have our own little Mardi Gras bash. I'll bring the beads...and you can even leave your shirt on to get them.

I can't even believe KeLei is that old! She's just growing right up. I remember her baptism vividly. I'm going away now...I feel old and one should never feel old at 24.
