Unless you have kids, then kids move slowly and time speeds up.
For example, getting in and out of the car.
Every day we get in the car my children insist they do it themselves. If I try to help I get a very stern "NO!" from Lillian and a "Samuel do it!" from my son. If I try to override their vetoes and help them anyway it usually ends in a complete meltdown in which I have to let them back out of the car so we can start all over.
It doesn't help that their arms are full of toys that must come along on the ride.
I know what you are thinking, "Aubrey, just let them do it, they are exploring their independence and it's healthy for them."
Well, it might be healthy for them, but it's driving me crazy. I only have so much patience and it is usually used up just trying to get them dressed and out the front door in the first place.
And that's just getting in the car, I won't mention the getting out-of-the-car and all the distractions that come with it.

I was so happy when Mara could finally completely strap herself into her seat. Of course, now Jeffrey thinks that he can do it too, and yells at me if I try to do it myself. I feel your pain.
Can I copy and paste this? Ha ha. Jk. But I totally thought the EXACT same thought this morning as I was trying to get Lydia up and out the door. She is in a 100% "DO IT MYSELF" phase right now.
My method right now is to let Gibson do 1 part out of everything we do and I do the rest. He gets to do the chest strap on his car seat, I do the rest. He gets to pick out one item for his outfit and then I coordinate around it. I've noticed days I let him do lots of little things to help that when I tell him he absolutely cannot help do something he takes it better...unless he's having one of his monster 2 year old days and then I just try to ride it out until my lovey gets home. ;)
Sorry about the stress, sweetie. I totally feel you pain :P
I use Brandielle's method. Let them focus on one thing while you work on the rest :)
